What is Dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning is a procedure designed to exfoliate the skin and remove dead cells, debris, and even the vellus hairs—commonly known as “peach fuzz”—that contribute to a dull appearance. This is done using a small, thin blade, which Lauren will carefully guide along the surface of the skin. By gently removing the outermost layers of the dermis, the softer, clearer, and healthier skin below can be revealed.

What Can Dermaplaning Treat?

The dermaplaning procedure is performed in-office by our highly-trained and experienced aesthetic professional. The entire treatment process typically takes less than an hour, and it is generally painless.

During the procedure, Lauren will carefully guide a small blade over the surface of the skin, gently removing the outer layer of the dermis. Any dead skin cells, dirt, debris, and hair on the surface of the skin will be meticulously removed, leaving behind the healthy, radiant skin underneath.

There is typically no recovery period or downtime associated with dermaplaning treatment, and many patients return to work or other regular activities immediately afterwards. That said, you may be advised to avoid excessive sun exposure and wear a good SPF, as the newly-revealed skin is more sensitive to damaging UV rays. You may also be advised to adjust your skincare routine and use more gentle products for a few days.

How Long Do the Results of Dermaplaning Last?

The immediate results of dermaplaning typically last between 1-3 months, at which point touch-up treatments may be sought. That said, there are long-term benefits to regular dermaplaning sessions, which is why many aestheticians recommend that patients schedule a series of treatments. Long-term benefits can include smaller, clearer pores, less breakouts, diminished fine lines, and an improvement in the appearance of acne scarring.
